Here's a great state-by-state resource for "keep right" laws.

http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html

Fortunately, I live in one of the green states....however my authorities don't enforce it for whatever reason. I've even pressed the head of our State Patrol and they'd much rather go after "aggressive drivers".

I submit that for every aggressive driver.....there's a good chance there's a left lane squatter that contributed to them being so.

I commute about 80 miles on I-75 to and from Atlanta pretty much every day and this kills me. I already have to budget out about 2 hours during morning rush hour to make it there in time- and the precious few moments that the interstate does not resemble a parking lot I like to actually GO so I am not stuck in the car any longer than I have to be. I'm not asking that people do 95 in the left lane (although if I see someone coming up behind me quickly, I ALWAYS move over at the first chance to let them by because I love when that courtesy is extended to me) but I just ask people to at least go the speed limit and follow the general flow of traffic (hint: if the lane to your right is moving faster than you are, and you see a line of about 10 cars following very closely behind you, you should probably move over.)

I would like to know why people use the left lane and drive significantly slower than the traffic around them. Are they too lazy to deal with switching lanes and people merging around them and just want to drive with tunnel vision? I'm just hoping for a valid reason.

Thank you for this site haha :)

Seriously! Do whatever you can to get the word out. Slow driving in the left lane is a major cause of accidents and road rage. What's needed is a public education blitz in the areas that produce major left lane offenders (I'm looking at you, Ohio).

It's almost to the point of being ridiculous. Why the majority of Ohio drivers refuse to acknowledge the law or exercise a little courtesy is beyond me.

Living in Iowa and having two major interstates as main veins for roadways (I80 and I35), I see this happening all the time. I make several 180 mile trips on the interstate throughout the year and my biggest frustration is slow people in the left lane. Iowa even has signs posted on the roadways notifying slower cars to stay to the right, but still these drivers continue on, moving slowly, in the left lane.

The Left Lane Drivers of America have the right idea with this movement and I'll do my best to help push it forward.

I want to say I agree with this site. I learned to drive in Germany. There, you see a fast moving car, you MOVE, no questions asked. That kind of thing should be implemented here.
